Goodwood confirms details for Goodwood SpeedWeek

Goodwood has confirmed the presenter line-up and immersive SpeedWeek@Home activities ahead of the first, one-time only event next month.

Goodwood Speedweek presented by Mastercard is a new, one-off interactive entertainment experience for 2020 taking place from October 16th to 18th. Combining the greatest elements of Goodwood’s headline motorsport events, SpeedWeek will be streamed live from behind closed doors to a global audience.

An impressive line-up of presenters will cover all the action from the weekend, with well-known faces and influencers across motorsport, automotive and lifestyle, including: television broadcaster and BBC Radio 2 DJ Dermot O’Leary; motoring and technology TV presenter Rory Reid; Capital FM host Siân Welby; and former World Endurance Champion and Grand Prix winner Mark Webber.

“I am thrilled to be part of the hosting team for the one-time only Goodwood SpeedWeek next month,” said SpeedWeek host Dermot O’Leary. “I am a huge fan of Goodwood, and it’s incredible to see what the team has done in such challenging circumstances to keep the spirit of motorsport alive – it’s going to be a brilliant event and I can’t wait to get involved with Goodwood’s audience, and hopefully bring the awesome racing to a few new faces.”

The three full days of live action broadcast from Goodwood Motor Circuit will be combined with pre-recorded footage and interactive features, on a dedicated Goodwood streaming site, free of charge. Joining in, viewers and fans will be able to get in on the action from the comfort of their own homes, participating in competitions, polls, quizzes and votes, predicting the results of each race, creating their own digital ‘garage’, joining virtual paddock tours and much more, with winners, champions and prizes awarded along the way.

SpeedWeek@Home

As one of the most immersive and interactive motorsport events ever staged, SpeedWeek audiences will be encouraged to fully embrace the spirit of Goodwood from wherever they are watching.  It can be as simple as gathering friends together to watch the weekend’s action, or going all out and staging their own home event by recreating some of the most iconic elements of the motorsport events.

Build your own Festival of Speed Central Feature competition

At the heart of the Festival of Speed, the sky-scraping Central Feature has developed into one of the most eye-catching and anticipated aspects of the event and each year represents a celebration of automotive design and motoring heritage. For SpeedWeek only, viewers will be encouraged to bring their own Central Feature creation to life depicting a theme or story of their choice, using any resources and materials they wish, with extra points awarded for recycled or sustainable materials. The judges will be looking for a winning combination of clever design, innovation, creativity and a great story.

Mini children’s design competition

For Goodwood’s younger audience, this special competition will invite them to design an inspiring and colourful livery for a classic 1960s Mini, using a downloadable template of the vehicle to create their masterpiece. The winning design will then be produced and wrapped on to a Mini Cooper S, which will race at the Revival in 2021 – a prize that has never been offered before at Goodwood. The winner and their family will be guests at the event to see their creation in high speed action.

SpeedWeek aims to bring together Goodwood’s existing community with new, like-minded enthusiasts across the world to enjoy this unique, never seen before event.

The programme of events, full driver line-up and additional SpeedWeek@Home activities will be announced over the coming weeks.
