Hendy Group sponsors BTCC driver Árón Taylor-Smith
Hendy Group is set for a starring role in one of the UK’s leading motorsport competitions with news that it is sponsoring Árón Taylor-Smith in the British Touring Car Championship.
Árón is competing this year as part of Team HARD in the CUPRA Leon with the season opener at the Thruxton Race Circuit in Hampshire in May.
The 31-year old is a multiple BTCC race winner now in his seventh season of the championship.
Hendy Group chief executive Paul Hendy said the opportunity to sponsor Árón is perfectly timed with the recent launch of Hendy’s CUPRA dealership in Brighton.
“This is an exciting partnership for Hendy Group as we continue to expand our dealership portfolio and with our name on Árón’s car, helmet, racesuit and in his BTCC garage we are set to reach a huge audience both on TV, and spectators once COVID restrictions allow for large crowds once more.”
In addition to sporting the Hendy name during the season, Árón will be one of the star guests at the Hendy Performance Open Day at Thruxton on August 8th.
“It is great to welcome Hendy Group into the BTCC as it’s clear that motorsport and performance are at the core of the company,” said Árón. “I have been looking forward to representing the Hendy name since initially speaking to the company and we have some brilliant plans for this year including the open day.”
The BTCC season kicks off on the 8th and 9th of May at Thruxton.
“We have done a number of test days so far and the early indicators are very encouraging for the new car,” said Árón. “The CUPRA is a great fit for the BTCC in terms of wheel base, dimensions and even aero dynamics. I genuinely want to thank everyone at Hendy for putting their trust in me for this year and I’m really looking forward to having them in my garage over the course of the year.”
