Keeping refugees mobile and safe

A host of measures to support Ukrainian refugees from jobs, free refresher driving courses, and help for convoys taking humanitarian aid, have been announced by the AA.

Edmund King OBE, AA president and director of the AA Charitable Trust said: “We have all seen the terrible news coming daily out of Ukraine. Sometimes we feel helpless and just really want to help. At the AA we are keen to do what we can to support Ukrainians.

“Like many others, we are devastated at what has been happening in Ukraine.  We have donated to the Red Cross appeal and are now offering job opportunities as well as providing free storage space, signage and European breakdown cover to support refugee donations.

“For Ukrainian refugees in the UK, the AA Charitable Trust is offering free Drive Confident refresher courses via AA Driving School and BSM to improve their confidence and brush up on forgotten skills, as well as helping them adjust to driving on the other side of the road.

“The course will also cover road markings, signs, roundabouts and can be tailored to the needs of the individual. We hope the course will help Ukrainians in some small way to adjust to life in the UK.”
