Retro Rides Weekender at Goodwood

The Retro Rides Weekender is back at the iconic Goodwood Motor Circuit in West Sussex on the 21st and 22nd May 2022.

The Weekender event brings together the exceptional and champions the diversity of the UK retro car scene. With over 800 retro-styled pre-2000 vehicles in attendance, participants and spectators can expect to see everything from resto-mods to radical customs, drifters to retro daily’s, and hot rods to hot hatches.

Each year the iconic Goodwood paddocks are transformed, and this year’s event sees four retro perfection themed displays. The Classic Touring Car Racing Club (CTCRC) takes over with everything from pre-66 classic Touring cars through to Super Touring cars for their display. ‘Practical’ vehicles will be celebrated in the Truck Van Wagon display; think boogie vans, minitrucks, camper conversions, and overpowered estate car cool. The Red Room pays homage to the popular ‘red room’ area of the Haynes Motor Museum. If you have a red car, there’s potentially a spot in the paddock here for you! Topping off the themed areas, the innovative Deadline area is back for debuting new builds and recently finished projects. Applications for all curated display areas are open now. Spicing up the displays, exclusive areas will be dedicated to specialist workshop builds, standout resto-mods, supercars, and best of show. In addition, all retro car owners are invited to book in for the pre-2000 retro parking and club stand areas.

Live on-track action will be taking place on the circuit throughout the weekend. Saturday sees the point-to-point Sprint, suitable for race-prepped vehicles all the way through to daily drivers. Sunday is the return of the Auto Solo time trials. Applications for taking part in the on-track fun are opening soon, if you’ve ever wanted to drive the Goodwood circuit, this is the way to do it.

The Retro Rides Weekender has more to offer than just some awesome cars. The daytime entertainment areas will keep kids and the bigger kids entertained; plus, there will be a live action stunt display, specialist retro-vehicle trade stands, food stalls, bars, and weekend camping to enjoy.

David Murphy, event director, said: “After the successes of our 2021 event, we’re opening up new areas for 2022, bringing in more atmosphere and continuing to tweak and improve on what has gone before. As the show has reached a wider audience, we’ve found a deep-felt enthusiasm for our unique way of having fun with cars. We love that a late 90’s Nissan Micra can rub shoulders with classic super cars or the latest top level restomod. It’s all about that enthusiasm for cars!”
