Toyota joins forces with Team GB

With just one month to go until the start of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Team GB and presenting partner Toyota have launched I Am Team GB 2021.

This festival of sport will encourage everyone throughout the UK to ‘Get Up and Get Active’ at free and fun events to be held around the country over the weekend of 14 and 15 August. The programme includes hero events at the Olympic Stadium in London, the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, the University of Hull and Peppa Pig World at Paulton Park in Romsey, Hampshire.

Anyone who would like to take part can find out more and sign up at www.IAmTeamGB.com.

I Am Team GB has quickly become a popular and successful mass participation event and there are plenty of ways to get involved in this summer’s festival, with Olympic sport taster sessions and opportunities to meet Team GB athletes and try out activities hosted at local leisure centres and sports venues across the country.

Alternatively, there’s the option to create your own activity and take part on a day and in a way that suits you, such as in your own back garden or local park with family, friends, or other people from your local community.

Team GB Olympian Beth Tweddle, said: “Given what’s happened in the last year and a half, it will be amazing to see so many people getting up and active and having a good time together. I Am Team GB represents a great opportunity for me, as a Team GB Olympian, to give back to the community that has done so much to support me on my journey as an athlete, and hopefully play a role in inspiring more people to get active, play Olympic sport and live healthier lifestyles.”

Team GB commercial director Tim Ellerton added: “We are really excited to be launching I Am Team GB. With the support of our presenting partner Toyota, we are excited to be creating a host of free events up and down the country for those inspired by the Olympics to get up and active this summer. We are particularly excited about the ‘lap of honour’ at the Olympic Park which will see members of the public alongside their Olympic heroes take on the 1.8 km route.”

Tom Whiteside, Toyota (GB) Sponsorship Manager, said: “Toyota is all about promoting mobility, so to activate our sponsorship of Team GB we wanted to create something with our partnership that would take the magic of the Olympics and inspire people to get up and get active, irrespective of age, experience or skill level. I Am Team GB gives us the perfect opportunity to do just that. We will have more exciting activations to announce over the course of the campaign.”
